Ellie printmaker who runs Foxglove Press and her pet cat toulouse

Hi I’m Ellie, and this is Toulouse!

From my old terrace house perched on the edge of the Yorkshire dales, West Yorkshire to be precise, you will find me creating beautiful drypoint etchings and exploring other printmaking processes. You can view my drypoint printmaking process here.

When I am not working hard on these you can find me walking new and old favourite routes around the local countryside gaining new inspiration or spending time renovating my house bit by bit.

My background in printmaking; started life at Leeds College of Art, where I completed a foundation art course followed by a degree in print and surface pattern design. Through exploring different printmaking techniques I found a love for drypoint etching and copper etching. The ability to create delicate fine lines and texture with this process captured my imagination. From here I have gone off and worked in other industries, but always felt a pull back to my creativity. I started focusing on my art and selling it in late 2019, using my time to explore my favourite process, drypoint etching, and to develop my art style.

As you can see, my work is inspired by the beauty of nature. My passion for drypoint printmaking enables me to produce gorgeous prints of which some transfer beautifully into the most exquisite, eco-friendly wrapping papers, cards and notebooks.

More recently I have begun to explore nature through collagraph printing and monotype printing, as ways of exploring adding tone and textures to my work.

Enjoy Exploring my work!
